- Anticlimax Boss: Don Sauzer goes down fairly easily in the monochrome version. Averted in the color remake.
- Goddamned Bats: Dunbine Mooks due to Aura Barriers.
- Goddamned Boss: GP-02A Physalis uses its shield a lot, making it hard to kill.
- Special Effect Failure: In the monochrome version, spaces outside of a unit's movement range are darkened whenever that unit is selected to take an action. This darkening effect is nowhere near good enough on city tiles, turning movement in urban maps into a massive guessing game. This would thankfully be corrected in Compact 2, and is not an issue in the color remake for obvious reasons.
