YMMV / Star Trek: The Next Generation S3E1 "Evolution"

  • Accidental Innuendo: When talking about being away from Wesley for a year, Dr. Crusher says, "I missed about two inches of him." She means height, not that other dimension.
  • Growing the Beard:
    • By itself it's a fairly middling episode. However, it marked several major changes for the better, including Dr. Crusher returning, Wesley starting to be treated as a more flawed and realistic character, the spandex uniforms being replaced by a much-improved design, and the often murky cinematography giving way to a much fresher and more vibrant visual style.
    • More importantly, this episode marks the beginning of the Michael Piller eranote  and a stable team of new writers working to revitalize the show. Among other issues, the large amount of writer departures in the first two seasons are often considered one major reason the show was so uneven at the beginning.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Why yes, it is a younger Doctor Kelso trying to kill all the nanites.
