• And You Thought It Would Fail: Early internet buzz about the film after development was announced was quite negative, at least in the United States where it was interpreted as an unnecessary remake of Alive directed by the guy who made the commercially successful but critically panned Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Upon release, it received critical acclaim and became one of Netflix's top 10 foreign language films almost immediately.
• Award Snub:
  • Although the film was nominated for Oscars for Best International Film and Makeup and Hairstyling, the film did not get any nominations for its visual effects, sound, music or for anyone in the cast.
  • Even in the awards it was nominated for Best International (or Foreign) Film, the film saw itself tending to lose to The Zone of Interest (including the aforementioned Oscars).
• Estrogen Brigade: Due to the cast being made up of young, attractive actors, the film gained a sizable female following on social media.
• Nightmare Fuel: The absolute brutal collision of all the passengers as the remaining half of the plane forcefully settles into the mountains. Multiple passengers slam into the seats, some are flung overhead, one gets a tray forcefully stabbed into their stomach, one gets their ankle snapped with a sickening crunch sound, one's head is forcefully slammed into a headrest in front, one's head is crushed into the wall in front of them, and one is flung in the center of the plane. All of this happens in mere seconds.
