YMMV / She-Hulk: Attorney at Law S1E7 "The Retreat"

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Is Saracen a legitimate vampire who has issues containing himself, or is he just a weirdo who thinks he's a vampire? On the one hand, the fact that he doesn't show aversion to sunlight and doesn't engage in any blatantly obvious vampire-like behavior could indicate either he's lying or that he suffers from Renfield's syndrome. That said, the Time Variance Authority has arrested vampires before, and the existence of Blade indicates that vampires do indeed exist, so it's entirely possible Saracen is a real vampire.
    • In the comics, Saracen is indeed a vampire, and appeared in a Blade miniseries. So if it's accurate to the source material, he's telling the truth.
    • Also, he's absolutely right about Josh wanting Jen's blood. Funny aside or evidence that the group is involved somehow?
  • Captain Obvious Reveal: Josh was introduced in the previous episode specifically chatting up Jen. The only interaction he has with anybody besides Jen is when Lulu is blatantly getting him away from Jen, leaving it ambiguous as to whether anybody actually knows him or if he's crashing the wedding. The ending of that episode has Nikki leaving Jen a voicemail message explaining the Intelligencia threat while Jen is with Josh, followed by the reveal that the lab is both surveilling Jen with Josh and connected to Intelligencia, both common tropes for implying the companion is part of the danger. Considering all of that with his sudden ghosting in this episode, Josh's motives revealed at the end are, at the very least, less surprising than him not having them would have been.
  • Unexpected Character: The support group digs up some really minor Marvel characters in Man-Bull, El Águila, Porcupine, and Saracen.
