YMMV / Rizelmine

Go To

  • Base-Breaking Character: Tomonori is either seen as an interesting take on the romcom main, being a male tsundere who wants nothing to do with Rizel, but has Jerk with a Heart of Gold tendencies, or among the worst Romcom mains, being abusive both verbally and physically to Rizel and his unlikable tendencies overshadowing any nobler traits he has.
  • Colbert Bump: With the release of Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Cheat Powers, the series has experienced some newcomers due to fans of it on twitter referencing it whenever Level 2 Isekai's opening/Fenrys are brought up, with Rizelmine trending on twitter afterwards.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Throwing your wife into a wall, horrible. Repeatedly throwing her through the wall into the stratosphere, hilarious. Panty fetishist lolicon who gives speeches to his classmates about the wonders of panties, hilarious.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Rie Kugimiya voices Rizel, who's in love with a male Tsundere. Consider the types of characters she would later go on to play, and then try and rewatch this series without laughing.
  • Spiritual Successor: To Urusei Yatsura in that a girl who isn't human forces the lead male into an arranged marriage against his will, all while the main guy prefers chasing after the majority of girl besides the one interested in him.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: The opening sounds very similar to Lum's Love Song.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Tomonori's situation of being forced into an arranged marriage against his will would make him a pretty sympathetic romcom main, if not for the fact that his physically and verbally abusive tendencies towards Rizel tends to make viewers find him too unlikable.
