YMMV / Risk of Roadblocks

Go To

  • Broken Base: Some people saw it as a fun and challenging take on the Reference Overdosed battle royale genre of Roblox games, but others saw it as a poor attempt at trying to mix complex mechanics into the genre that paled in comparison to the competition at time.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: Parrying. Compared to other games like Deepwoken, for some reason, parrying attacks is only possible at the end of a combo or if it's a special move. Considering how extremely tight the parry window is, when combined with this, this means that most matches tend to devolve into whoever lands the most hits and can perform the most devastating combos with only your evasive skill to protect you (and even they may not work).
  • Uncertain Audience: The game tries to be a Reference Overdosed Video Game Randomizer in the vein of item asylum and Allusions while having hardcore mechanics similar to Deepwoken. However, casual players find the game way too complex for them to have fun, while the more competitive players are unable to take the game seriously due to being meme-based. The self-contradiction of this meant that it appealed to no one and saw rapidly-plummeting playercounts not long after launch and subsequently closed it's doors for good the following year.
