  • Broken Base: The G3 battle rifle used by the Middle Eastern Coalition as their standard rifle has been quite divisive among the fans, some like the weapon for its power and long-range acurracy, other hate it for its recoil and insist that the AK-47 is a more appropriate weapon for the faction, even though the developers have stated that the G3 would be the MEC's service rifle if said faction exist in real life.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Since it's the closest you can get to real-life combat, almost all firefights can get terrifying where your life feels like it matters.
    • To put it in perspective, imagine being with your squad just setting up an FOB. Suddenly, an enemy LAV comes by, engine extremely loud firing shots at you that are deafening to your ears. You go prone, but as soon as the LAV spots you, it's 5 or so loud shots and you're dead. All you hear are the screams of your squadmates and the empty "Death" Screen.
    • It gets turned up to 11 when you're defending a base in the middle of a desert map and you hear a random air-raid siren as a jet shoots you from the middle of nowhere. Sure, it's tiresome to veterans but to newcomers it trumps everything else.
  • Spiritual Successor:
    • Squad by some of the same staff, that felt how the limitations of Battlefield 2 engine made them develop a new game.
    • Operation Harsh Doorstop by content creator Bluedrake 42, for being a freeware realistic tactical shooter supplemented with mods and community-sourced contents.
    • Both projects above ran on Unreal Engine 4, though developed separately.
