• Fridge Brilliance: Kay first gets Jeff's attention when she calls him and pretends the champagne he sent over was terrible, essentially acting Tsundere to attract him. Phil does the exact same to her by telling her she's not beautiful, foreshadowing why the two of them will be a better match.
• Harsher in Hindsight: Jeff tells Barbara that a good man will snap her up one day, and the third act deals with her feeling sad that the man she loves is marrying someone else. Carole Landis would become known for her string of short marriages and affairs, including one with Rex Harrison, whom she viewed as the great love of her life. She left her husband for him but he wouldn't divorce his wife, and the heartbreak from this is viewed as a major factor in her suicide only seven years later.
• Hollywood Homely: It's decided that Kay will pretend to be the lady and Barbara the secretary because Kay is better looking. Carole Landis is of course just as beautiful as Betty Grable, and wears a pair of glasses to look demure, and prompts stunned reactions when she removes them for a She Cleans Up Nicely moment.
