YMMV / Miraculous Ladybug S03E24 "Ladybug"

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • Lila's smirk when she sees Marinette almost get Akumatized. Does she know that Gabriel and Hawk Moth are the same person? Or is she just happy that her nasty plan has worked?
    • Everything about Adrien after he gives Lila a warning and demand that she fix the situation to get Marinette accepted back in school. Does he finally cut his ties with Lila for good? Is he still letting her be his "friend" to keep his eyes on her next lies for Marinette's sake? Or is he giving Lila another chance to be a better person? Keep in mind that their "friendship" was never genuine, as Adrien is still uncomfortable with Lila's behavior, and it's not a surprise if Adrien indeed gives her another chance.
  • Fanfic Fuel:
    • Sentibug. Once the real Ladybug gave the amok back to her, she looked like a fully sapient being, so naturally there's a segment of the fanbase that wonders what might've happened if she'd stuck around instead of being unsummoned. On top of the character herself, the fact that sentimonsters can hold their own amoks brings up the possibility of existing characters having been sentimonsters all along — the usual suspect being Adrien, though in principle it could be just about anyone.
    • Princess Justice — what would have been Marinette's akumatized form if Hawk Moth hadn't called off the attack — is also a popular subject for writers. Since we don't get to see her design or powers, they're free to fill in the blanks.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: At the end of "Chameleon" Marinette dismissed Lila's threat and made it clear that she is not scared. Now Lila finally delivers on her threat, frames Marinette and gets her expelled. Up until Adrien bails her out, there is absolutely nothing Marinette can do about it as she is unable to prove anything.
    • Likewise, at the end of "Chameleon", Adrien had told Marinette to take the high road and stop trying to expose Lila's lies, claiming they weren't hurting anyone. He learned otherwise in "Oni-Chan" when Lila's lies got Kagami Akumatized and nearly got Ladybug killed, and then this episode begins with Lila trying to frame Marinette for cheating on a test. While Marinette's dislike for her was obvious, she hadn't been trying to expose her for anything at the beginning of the episode, so Lila's actions were completely unprovoked. Had Adrien stood with Marinette and made it known to their classmates that Lila is a liar, Marinette's framing and expulsion might never have happened. And by the end of the episode, while he forces Lila to get Marinette's expulsion revoked, he still hasn't openly told any of his classmates the truth about her nature. This would eventually be resolved in Season 5, and even then, "Lila" getting expelled from Francoise Dupont was just a setback for her.
    • Hawk Moth mocks Ladybug and Cat Noir for "getting sentimental on a sentimonster" when Mayura erases Sentibug. In the Season 5 episode "Representation," it's revealed that Adrien himself is a sentimonster, a fact that Gabriel and Nathalie know perfectly well. Even if he didn't know it, Adrien had to watch what was basically one of his own die right before his eyes. Imagine if he should remember Sentibug's death in Season 6 or later.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Marinette's akumatized form, Princess Justice, doesn't even show up before Hawk Moth is forced to call off his plot.
