• Memetic Badass: Robert Bakker, even after his death.
• Moral Event Horizon: To everyone, Bakker crossed the line by killing those against him. For Matthew, he crossed it when he burnt his own sister and left her crazy.
• Nausea Fuel: Boom Boom. He's just a man who needed a heart transplant. He got one. From a sperm whale. It's huge, so huge that they had to break open his rip cage and leave it open to fit it in. The description of the way his body looks, and later, of how Matthew grabs hold of his heart is very vivid. Actually, pretty much everything Dr. Umbars does.
• Nightmare Fuel: Especially given the number of Eldritch Abomination types Matthew deals with, there's a lot. The Last Train will swallow you if you don't bring "offerings"; Blackout will erase the city from the outside in, and once you sleep with it around you can't wake up ever again; and the Death of Cities will skin you alive with paper cuts.
