• Alternative Joke Interpretation: When Nels snarks that the only way he could provide for his children's education at the private school is if he commited suicide and Harriet used the insurance money, Harriet looks gleeful that he'd be willing to, much to his disgust. Was the joke Mrs. Oleson really willing to let her husband commit suicide or was it that she merely flattered that he was willing to for their children's sake and Nels misinterpreted it as her encouraging him to do so for real?
• Crosses the Line Twice: Mrs. Oleson suggesting that she approves of her husband commiting suicide to fund their children's education? Shouldn't be funny. This being Mrs. Oleson and right after Mr. Oleson was being sarcastic about his life insurance and her Comically Missing the Point? Hilarious.
• Harsher in Hindsight: Albert claims the local school is on fire to distract everyone's attention so he can steal food and coins. Later in Season 6, he'd be involved in a real school fire with tragic losses.
• Retroactive Recognition: Mrs. Schiller, the Lethal Chef cook whose job at the hotel is taken by Caroline, is played by a pre-Goonies Anne Ramsey.
