- Annoying Video Game Helper: Kira in Stage 5. Getting close to Yatagarasu when he's using the razor wind attack is not a good idea. Not that it shuts Kira up, of course.
- It's Short, So It Sucks!: With only 5 stages, along with 3 difficulty levels and 30 easy to obtain achievements, the game has been criticized of this.
- Spiritual Adaptation: For a long time, this was what some consider to be the closest thing many would get to playing Metal Wolf Chaos overseas up until Devolver Digital were successful in their plan of localizing the game in 2018 during their E3 press conference and finally released in 2019.
