- Heartwarming in Hindsight: A Running Gag of the series focuses on André-Baptiste, who's absolutely not Abbot Langelusse's illegitimate son. A later installment reveals that Langelusse, at a point of his life when he was at his lowest and tried to kill himself, was stopped by the former abbot who then gave him a new purpose in life by training him to become the next abbot. The abbotnote was called Baptiste and, in French, "Abbé Baptiste" has a pronounciation rather close to "André-Baptiste". So it's possible that Abbot Langelusse named his son after the man who trained him.
- Values Dissonance: It's not hard to see why this work hasn't been exported to the United States. There would be a backlash over the sexual content, a few gags involving children being shown in their underwear, and the fact that Spirou is a Dirty Kid.
