YMMV / Lamb

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: The Ram Creature. The animals of the film give him a wide berth and Ada's first glimpse of him shows her as terrified as we've ever seen her up to that point, but it's never made exactly clear how malicious he is, or whether he would have killed María's mate if she hadn't killed his first.
  • Creepy Cute: Ada is a combination of two cute things: a baby and a lamb, but she can still come across as unsettling. The fact that she's being treated like a human child without any concern for what she really is or where she belongs contributes to the ineffable wrongness of her.
  • Draco in Leather Pants:
    • Quite a few movie-watchers give María this treatment, downplaying the fact that the majority of the movie's plot, as well as the unfortunate fates of Ingvar and Ada, are all a direct result of her selfishness.
    • While he played no part in Ada's birth mother's death, some viewers also downplay Ingvar's part in taking Ada away from her mother, as he never made any attempts to return Ada and was complicit in the ewe's suffering in order to ease his and María's own.
  • Fridge Brilliance: Ada isn't a 50/50 Half-Human Hybrid, but her sheep parts include part of her torso and her right arm. This is because she is an offspring of a ram-human hybrid and a sheep, so the sheep parts "cover" more of her body.
  • Moe: Ada the half human/lamb hybrid is downright adorable. Some viewers and online reviewers (such as Korey Coleman of Double Toasted/Spill fame) admit that they quickly fell in love with her.
  • Moral Event Horizon: María secretly murdering Ada's persistent birth mother so that nothing will get in the way of her and her adoptive daughter anymore.
  • Squick:
    • We see the actual live births of several lambs, with the main characters pulling the lambs out of their mothers.
    • When Ada's mother is killed, the film appears to use an actual dead sheep. We even get a very close-up shot of the dead sheep's face as dirt is flung onto it.
  • Tearjerker: The trailer features the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows", and in light of what happens to Ada and María, is devastating.
If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on, believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me?
  • The Woobie:
    • The Mother Sheep (Ada's birth mother) who is frequently heard bleating every night for her daughter. Seeing the poor ewe trying to get her daughter back and calling for Ada is very heartbreaking.
    • Ada, who's small and somewhat timid and at the mercy of everyone and everything around her. In the end, she watches the only father she's ever known killed right in front of her and is taken away by someone who in her eyes is a frightening stranger.
