  • Covered Up:
    • Regular Joe features a track called "Goodnight Sweetheart", which was later a Top 10 hit for obscure country singer David Kersh.
    • Gary Barlow of Take That had a minor hit with a cover of Diffie's late 1994-early 1995 hit "So Help Me Girl".
    • Jo Dee Messina had a hit in 2005 with a cover of Diffie's "My Give a Damn's Busted".
  • Harsher in Hindsight: "Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox (If I Die)", where he plays his own death for Black Comedy (asking that his corpse be used for fun in a honky-tonk), became this after Diffie's death in March 2020.
