- Alternative Character Interpretation: Is Teppei hard on Suguri because he wants her to be the best she can be? Or is he just an antisocial Jerkass whose love for dogs is a result of an inability to emotionally deal with people?
- Heartwarming Moments: This is one big love story about people and their pet dogs. There's at least one per book.
- Jerkass Woobie: As abrasive as Teppei's ex-girlfriend can be, it's hard to not feel sorry for her during her flashback where it shows that Teppei's adoption of Noa resulted in the end of their relationship due to the strain of having a puppy suddenly brought into their home without the proper preparation or even Teppei considering her thoughts on the matter.
- Squick: Suguri really likes dogs, enough to catch dog poop with her bare hands. At one point, she also sucked amniotic fluid from a puppy's nose with her mouth, and almost licked a puppy's anus to help stimulate its excrement, before she was mercifully told that she could just use wipes to achieve the same effect.
- Unintentionally Sympathetic: Teppei's ex-girlfriend is presented as an antagonist for disliking dogs and being a rival for Suguri regarding Teppei's attention. It should be noted that her reason for disliking dogs is mostly the result of Teppei's decision to adopt Noa without regarding the impact it would have on their lives or even if she wanted a dog herself.
