- Broken Base:
- There has been a noticable split ever since the first single of BLUE was released. Some appreciate the dream pop found in kin and BLUE, while others believe the band has stagnated and prefer the more industrial-tinged electronic music of bounty and the Prelude series of videos. As the band is audiovisual, the trope extends to their videos as well: iamamiwhoami's aesthetic went from gritty, dirt- and plastic wrap-covered nature child to siren-like innocent goddess over the course of three albums.
- iamamiwhoami vs ionnalee fans, despite Jonna Lee's explicit attempts to embrace and connect them both. One fan theory suggests "Be Here Now" also functions as a rebuttal to iamamiwhoami fans upset at the ionnalee albums for shifting from dream pop/art pop over to synthpop/chillwave. CLOSE YOUR EYES / BLUND, stated as the sequel to iamamiwhoami's BLUE, is being released under the ionnalee name.

- Jonna was often referred to as Iam before her identity was revealed.
- The "bearded" man who first appeared in "u-1" is known as Captain Underpants.
- ShootUpTheStation is usually abbreviated as SUTS.
- Many of the songs from the first arc were known by a lyrical snippet or two, when applicable.
- "Key Lady," the woman who showed up to pick up the band's Grammy (they won Innovator of the Year in Sweden).
- Memetic Mutation:
- "YAMMAMIHOAMMY!" after the mispronunciation of their name during the Swedish Grammy awards.
- The song "y" is the first result on a Google search. Plenty of comments on that video is about how people accidentally stumbling across it while Googling "y" to get a shortcut to YouTube.
