• Anvilicious: Rick Green ends each episode with "History... bites."
• Esoteric Happy Ending: In-Universe example: Rick Green ends almost every episode on a downer note, as part of his conclusion that "history... bites." For example, the episode about Julius Caesar ends with Rick Green stating that "things turned out all right for Caesar's heirs... just not for Julius Caesar."
• Heartwarming Moments: The ending of the episode about Jesus. For once, Rick Green doesn't make out the rise of Christianity to be an Esoteric Happy Ending, and even he cannot deny that "history... doesn't always bite."
• Special Effects Failure: In every episode that calls for the presence of children, the "children" are clearly played by adults kneeling down.
