• Scrappy Mechanic: On the walk back to the apartment, the player can't reenter a building they already visited until the next day. Most of the time, it isn't a problem. However if you accidentally exit out of Rudy Mart before buying the thing you wanted, you can't buy it until the next day.
• Sequel Displacement: This game is actually a sequel to a game called HEADLINER, which has the same basic gameplay loop but takes place in Galixia. However, Novinews is more well-known.
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: The female cop named Helene spends most of her screentime wondering if she is fit to a police officer and worrying about the community. However, the player's sympathy for her can disappear since she arrests the player's boss if the player criticizes the government too much and never feels bad about arresting an innocent man and probably dooming him to an internment camp. Worse, the player can't call her out on it.
