  • Retroactive Recognition: This isn't Amir Bageria's first foray into a teen drama, he played Baaz in Degrassi: Next Class, the Sequel Series to Degrassi: The Next Generation. Also joining him from Next Class is Michael Brown (played Mr. Mitchell) as Jay's father and Sonia Dhillon Tully (played Jordan Kincaid in the TNG season 14 telefilm) as Sid's mother.
  • The Scrappy:
    • Leila is despised by most viewers for her needlessly destructive actions and borderline narcissistic personality.
    • Joey’s teacher who is needlessly inappropriate, calling her a slut when she wears a tank top, if videos on TikTok are anything to go by. People are jaw dropingly appalled by the clip.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: Similarly to Euphoria, while the show is a teen drama meant for teens aged 13-17, there is a lot of instances of profanity and sexuality on display, including a very graphic sexual assault scene. Ironically, it's rated TV-MA, meaning the content is inappropriate for anyone younger than 18 aka the target audience.
  • The Woobie:
    • Joey. While intoxicated in a cab, she is sexually assaulted by two of her close friends while a third friend sits by and lets it happen. When she finally comes forward against them, her best friend doesn’t believe nor do her other friends who she has been shown helping out in various ways. It’s so bad she has to change schools and still deals with the humiliation of being known as a rape victim in addition to the terrible trauma.
    • Dom. In addition to having a hectic school life, she's shown to have an incredibly stressful home life, being forced to balance various jobs and responsibilities in order to care for her mother, sister, and her sister's children (barely having time for her own personal wants).
    • Sid. He struggles in trying to figure out and explore his sexuality, not feeling comfortable with disclosing it to anyone; come episode 6, his college essay is leaked online, outing him to the entire school and forcing him to come out to his less-than accepting parents.
