  • Harsher in Hindsight: Following Chester Bennington's suicide, some of the lines in "Where'd You Go" sound now like Shinoda pining for his fallen best friend.
  • Memetic Mutation: It's rather prevalent for fans to be quoting the chorus of "Remember the Name", particularly on discussions involving compositions by way of percentage.
    • Also, replacing the song lyrics in the percentage part with "pain" (as in, "ten percent pain, twenty percent pain, fifteen percent concentrated power of pain").
  • Nightmare Fuel: The events described in "Kenji" of how the previous generation of Shinoda's family were forced out of their homes and into an internment camp due to post-Pearl Harbor jingoism, only to eventually return home to find their entire apartment raided with racist slander written on the walls. And the worst part is that all of it really happened to his and other Japanese-American families.
  • Retroactive Recognition: John Legend on "High Road" from 2005-2013: "That guy singing the chorus sounds cool". John Legend on "High Road" 2014-present: "Wait, is that the All of Me guy?!".
    • Holly Brook, the vocalist on "Where'd You Go?", later became better known as Skylar Grey, the female vocalist from "Coming Home" and "I Need a Doctor."
  • Signature Song: Initially "Where'd You Go", but overtime became "Remember the Name".
  • Tear Jerker: "Kenji". Again, the worst part is that the events described not only happened, but happened to thousands of people.
