- Award Snub: This episode was nominated for a 2006 Primetime Emmy Award For Outstanding Animated Program. It lost to The Simpsons episode "The Seemingly Never Ending Story."
- Awesome Music: "The Freakin' FCC Song," widely considered the best song the series has ever done. Especially considering that it's Seth MacFarlane performing a trio with himself in three completely different voices!
- Crosses the Line Twice: After the FCC shuts down PTV, they take it up a notch by censoring real life.
- Fanfic Fuel: During the song "The Freaking FCC" several of the clips shown are not from any show - including one of a leather-clad Stewie spanking a ball-gagged Brian in bondage. Boy, is there a lot of hardcore fanfic and fan-art involving that one moment.
- Harsher in Hindsight: The FCC bleeping out offensive words in The Dick Van Dyke Show became a reality for Mary Poppins in 2024. The film was given a higher age-inappropriate rating in the U.K. because of "discriminatory language" against South African ethnic groups.
- Parody Displacement: Peter, Brian, and Stewie's song, "The Freakin' FCC" is actually a parody of "Volunteer Fireman's Picnic" from the musical Take Me Along.
