YMMV / Ernest Rides Again

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The opening theme song, "There Once Was a Man Named Worrell" is surprisingly epic for an Ernest movie.
  • Broken Base: This is either the last good Ernest movie, or an example of Seasonal Rot for the Ernest franchise.
  • Critical Dissonance: Received a surprisingly glowing review from The New York Times.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: The Stinger is a skit with Ernest promoting his upcoming new film (shot back-to-back with this one), Ernest Goes to School, said to be in theaters August 1994. Unfortunately, this film bombed, grossing one-fifth of its budget, and aside from an extremely limited theatrical run, Ernest Goes To School and all future Ernest films were straight-to-video.
  • Retroactive Recognition:
    • In this film, Linda Kash starts her run of bit parts in a few Ernest movies. She wound up becoming best known as the angel from the Philadelphia cream cheese commercials.
    • Abner Melon is played by Ron James, of all people. Nowadays, he's much more known in Canada for his stand-up comedy.
