YMMV / DuckTales (2017) S2 E24 "Moonvasion!"

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Has Drake/Darkwing Duck always been as prideful as he's shown in this episode or is it a result of him taking the Darkwing Duck persona too far?
  • Catharsis Factor:
    • After two seasons and in the show's time of eleven years (as well as the 81 years in which the Duck family was introduced), seeing Della and Donald finally reunite and hug it out, along with the two being the siblings that they are, is therapeutic, to say the least. Especially when Donald gives her a What the Hell, Hero? and says, "I missed you too, ya big dummy!"
    • Lunaris suffering the worst possible punishment for someone like him by the end is also satisfying, considering how much of a monster he is.
    • Zeus gets tied up by Storkules by the end after his most negative moments and Abusive Father behavior.
  • Character Rerailment: Darkwing Duck's pride was only hinted at in "The Duck Knight Returns!". Here, that trademark ego and desperate seeking for attention are completely shown.
  • Fanfic Fuel:
    • Since Mickey himself can't be represented in the show, the fact that they did make multiple references to the mouse in this episode leaves the door open.
    • Since Gandra is a member of F.O.W.L., what would happen if Fenton or his mother got word of this?
  • Harsher in Hindsight: During the Sequel Hook, Bradford declares that they'll give the McDuck family their "last adventure". In December 2020, it was reported that season 3 would be the last season for the Ducktales series, and the series finale is indeed titled "The Last Adventure!"
  • Ho Yay: Storkules, when begging Zeus to let him help the mortals, asks him "What of my Donald?"
  • Moral Event Horizon:
    • If Lunaris didn't already cross it back in "Whatever Happened to Donald Duck?!" where he reveals he intends to kill Scrooge's family starting with the kids, then he certainly does here when he resorts to destroying the Earth, not caring if he kills his own people too in the process. It's this act that causes the rest of the Moonlanders to realize he's evil and how wrong they were to follow him.
    • On a lesser extent, Zeus seems to cross it when he "grounds" Selene and Storkules in refusal to let them fight off the Moonlanders simply because he doesn't want to help Scrooge.
  • Shocking Moments: The Sequel Hook ending revealing Scrooge's board of directors as the High Command of F.O.W.L. and their set up as the new antagonists of season 3. And some of those members? A still-living Black Heron. Steelbeak. The Phantom Blot. A frozen Rockerduck with an undead Jeeves. Gandra Dee.
