YMMV / Dr. Ramune: Mysterious Disease Specialist

• Harsher in Hindsight: Ramune pokes fun at how Kuro's face always looks the same regardless of the situation early into the anime. Then it comes up that his withdrawn attitude is the result of having to keep his unusual sight a secret even from his family, which led to him feeling isolated and doubting his sanity for good chunk of his life.
• The Woobie: Many patients and/or their family members, notable cases being Koto and Aona, who were emotionally abused by their mother and father respectively.
  • Rio, the older son of the Gyoza ears patient and Kuro, who also counts as a Stoic Woobie.
  • Kuro has seen shiny wiggly things floating around all his life for reasons unknown to him. Eventually, the stress of keeping it secret from his family and thinking he is crazy caused him to develop a mysterious disease and vomit sand everyday. Then his life went into downhill spiral. He began starving himself to stop it, which wasn't working out and general exhaustion set in pretty soon after that. Searching for a help, he went right into the clutches of a cult that imprisoned and tortured him. Thankfully, Ramune got him out and they have been taking care of each other ever since. Still, his withdrawn Perpetual Frowner persona is no wonder.
