  • Just as Dillon is advising Paige to get over her crush on Gabriela, the girl herself appears, with all the fanfare you expect from a romcom.
    Dillon: Is she in slow-motion again?
    Paige: Yeah.
    Dillon: Music playing in the background?
    Paige: Mm-hmm.
    Dillon: Funny feeling down there?
    Paige: Naturally.
    Dillon: You are a lost cause.
  • Paige's track tryouts. Each event she attempts inspires a feeling of impending disaster, from the long jump (face-plants in the sand) to the hurdles (knocks them over and crawls under one) to the javelin throw (straight through the water cooler) to the pole vault (she slows to a stop, then just says, "No," dropping the pole).
  • Coach Murray tasks AJ with training Paige for track.
    AJ: Isn't that literally your job as coach?
    Murray: No, my job as coach is to motivate through fear. Besides, I don't get paid enough to stay after school.
  • Chantal casually mentions that she posts art on Tumblr of Sam and Dean 69ing.
• Tearjerker: Having a more outgoing twin who tends to attract the lion's share of the attention was clearly hard on AJ, but you especially feel sad for her in the flashback to the day Paige met Gabby, shown late in the movie from AJ's perspective. She was the one who sat next to Paige first and had a crush on her, but she got up for a minute and turned to find Paige wholly focused on Gabby. The disappointment on her face goes straight to the heart.
