  • Scrappy Mechanic: A lot of players revile the platforming sections of the game, namely the ones with bottomless pits. The jumping in the game handles very awkwardly - it's really floaty and hard to control, doubly so if you're using mouse controls, so it can be very hard to get past a few sections. In addition, it can be all too easy to get lost sometimes, and a few spots exist where you can get stuck due to a bug. All this leaves fans who came for the shooter tear out their hair at the unpolished platforming parts.
  • That One Boss: The boss of the "Defenders Of The Elder" mission stands out because if you fight him the wrong way, you can make the battle borderline Unwinnable. The boss is two rotating halves, one using a shield that is impenetrable and covers it in its entirety, and one that uses a sword that it swings, leaving itself vulnerable. While a half is switched out, it is unprotected, so you should focus on the inactive shield-user while the sword is active and destroy it first, taking out the sword-user afterwards. If you do it wrong, you'll blow up the sword-half and leave only the shield-half active, which you likely won't be able to beat (unless you have the spinner sword, in which case you can slice it from below).
  • That One Level: The Lost Fortress stands out. It's not hard to pass per se, but it is extremely hard to beat without losing a life for the achievement and Golden Sketch. The reason is a section with a whole lot of spinning pillars which cannot be destroyed. It is very hard to find an opening to pass between them without running into them, and it's not made any easier by the turrets in that same section that shoot you as you try.
    • As far as the overworld goes, two words: excavation site. You thought the floaty jump physics made regular bottomless pits annoying? Wait 'till you get a load of the MOVING platforms!
