YMMV / Babylon Five S 03 E 10 Severed Dreams

  • Alternate Character Interpretation:
    • The Narns were given shelter aboard Babylon 5 after their homeworld was overrun by the Centauri. G'Kar (their last surviving uncaptured leader) was given sanctuary on Babylon 5, and the station defended a damaged Narn cruiser from attack from the Centauri. To the Narns, driving forward to attack the Earthforce boarding parties as they did (instead of holding and fortifying a position, as Garibaldi wanted to do) wasn't so much a Leeroy Jenkins move as much as it was Honor Before Reason.
    • It was also a gutsy move that showed the Narns' ability to think strategically as well as tactically. Sure, it seemed stupid, if not outright crazy to charge into Earthforce guns, but the tactic had two benefits: it kept the Earthforce troops occupied in a relatively isolated area, so that they couldn't cause any more damage or possibly civilian casualties (tactical) and kept them away from vital areas such as the command deck, the launch bays and the power systems (systems that if disabled, could leave Babylon 5 unable to defend itself and ripe for capture by Earthforce - strategic). The Narns' sacrifices actually helped win the Shadow War.
  • Glurge: J. Michael Straczynski admits the final applause scene is pretty cheesy, though he at least offset it a bit with the final close-up of the Nightwatch poster, reminding us they still have a long, hard fight ahead.
