YMMV / Asterix and the Great Divide

Go To

  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: The biggest criticism of the story is that it's essentially a mash-up of plot elements from earlier entries in the series, most noticeably Asterix the Legionary, Asterix and the Roman Agent, and The Mansions of the Gods. Even Albert Uderzo himself agreed with this criticism, and later named it as his least-favorite entry in the series.
  • Values Dissonance: The English translation gave the name "Schizophrenix" to an offscreen character whose house had been cut in half by the divide, and would forget about this and fall down attempting to cross. At the time it may have been seen as an appropriate pun, but now it's demeaning the mentally ill.
