• Awesome Music: This game really pushed the limits of the SNES' sound chip.

  • "Not For Peace"
  • "Till the Crack of Doom"
• Do Not Do This Cool Thing: The game's antiwar message, made clear in the bad ending, is almost imperceptible among the four to seven things exploding or flying through the screen at almost any given time.
• Game-Breaker:
  • The Napalm (see Pacifist Run on the main page) turns the game into a turkey shoot; just bear in mind that the shots do lose momentum, but not power, at range.
  • The Laser weapon also counts because it is very devastating to enemies with a large hitbox. The mini-boss in Stage 5 can be defeated within a matter of seconds with the Laser because the beam is passing through and hitting multiple areas of the boss's hitbox, resulting in severe damage being delivered within a short amount of time.
• Polished Port: The Declassified port by M2 for Nintendo Switch adds some quality-of-life adjustments (such as adjusting weapon aiming speed and a "fix aim and fire" button assignment), restores the original story with a new English translation, features a translation of the Japanese strategy guide, and a whole host of behind-the-scenes goodies.
• Porting Disaster: On surface, the PlayStation 2 version looks like the SNES version with high definition graphics, but it lacks a lot of graphical effects in the original despite releasing two console generations later. One famous goof is in Stage 2: in the SNES version, since this level is set in space, bullet casings are programmed to fly backward without any gravitation in effect, but in the PS2 version, the developer did not consider this so they gravitate downward like other stages set on earth. The music was also butchered heavily. This led to fans to ignore this version in favor of playing the SNES original.
• Visual Effects of Awesome: Very impressive for the technology at the time. For instance, activating the jetpack on your Assault Suit causes large air currents that you can see on the ground. The atmospheric re-entry mission is also something to see.
