When Elmo finds a stray puppy named Tango on the street, he and Grover befriend her and offer to take her to the pet fair at the park so she can be adopted. They visit the other Muppets on the way there, and soon Elmo realizes he himself could be the "forever home" Tango has been searching for.
Tropes:
- Art Shift: Some parts of "That's Home" shift to crayon doodle illustrations which show Tango living in her new forever home.
- Big Finale Crowd Song: The special ends with Elmo and the whole gang singing a triumphant finale version of "That's Home", to celebrate Tango being officially adopted by Elmo himself.
- Meaningful Name: Elmo names the dog Tango because of her love to dance.
- "Setting Off" Song: Elmo sings "That's Home" as he and Grover set off for the pet fair.
- Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Elmo and Grover are off to the pet fair! But on the way, they stop to feed Tango … and to play with her … and to give her a bath … and what do you know, by the time they get there, the pet fair’s over and everyone else has left.
- Triumphant Reprise: "That's Home" gets reprised twice: first to reattract Tango when Elmo and Grover realized they missed the pet fair, and again by the entire street gang at the end when Elmo's parents decide to adopt Tango.
