It would explain why the short "Youngstar 3" shows Youngstar's grandfather Old Man to be overprotective and why no mention is made of Youngstar's dad. Old Man is so grief-stricken by the loss of his son that he wants to be sure his grandson also doesn't have his life cut tragically short and is too stubborn to see that his efforts to protect his grandson are a bit excessive.
