Potentially confirmed? On the 22nd of December, the moon does crash into the world. It is currently unknown if the world will be transitioned into 1.18 or a new world and season would be used instead though as of then.
Although given that from what has been heard of from some hermits, it sounds like 1.18 will be a new season, so we may be seeing a new world.
Jossed. In a live stream on the 19th of February 2022, Xisuma confirmed that Season 9 will be starting as a new world.

Seeing as how they were commenting on them being left behind when the moon fell into Boatem, it's possible they really were telling Grian to get some sleep and that he didn't imagine them talking at all. Besides, they took over Minecraft itself at one point, so it's not impossible.
Thanks to certain stuff, Season Nine will start on the 10-year anniversary of Hermitcraft
It was originally planned to start on the 19th of February according to Xisuma during their stream on the same day, but with Scar undergoing an operation, they will push it back. While the date wasn't stated, wouldn't it be ironic if it was pushed back to April 2022 - which would be 10 years after the start of the first season of Hermitcraft?
Sadly jossed - it started on the 5th of March, not during April.
