Sonic Classic 2 is a Sonic the Hedgehog fan game made by Hez, which is known for being developed over the span of 10 years with many changes along the way.

The game showcases Sonic and friends exploring 10 new zones, with unique designs and impressive bosses to fight.

Tropes featured include:

  • Alliterative Name: All of the Zone's names, except for Space Chase Zone, which is a rhyming name.
  • Bonus Level: The special stages from Sonic The Hedgehog 1 return in an expanded format, with teleporters and 1-ups placed within.
  • Taking You with Me: After seeming defeating Robotnik once again, the escape cutscene is cut short by Robotnik's Mech's arm grabbing sonic before he can escape, back for another round on the crashing fortress.

  • {{Heads I Win, Tails You Lose}}: Dr Robotnik awaits you at the end of the credits, juggling the chaos emeralds, regardless if you collected all of them or not from the special stage.

  • Humongous Mecha: Most of the game's boss fights impressively conceive this, being ambitious in the process.

  • Meaningful Background Event: In Flying Fortress Zone, the background slowly goes into the sky until it goes into the atmosphere, which fits the transition into Space Chase Zone.

  • Rhyming Name: Space Chase Zone is guilty of this, as all the others have Alliterative names.

  • Robot Me: The final boss is this for Dr. Robotnik, as on par to most Sonic games.

  • Space Zone: Space Chase is this, which also takes place on a facility built onto the moon.

  • The Stinger: The appearance of Emperor Metallix
