Smart Ball note  is a platforming video game developed by Game Freak, published by Sony Imagesoft, and released for Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991. In the game the player plays as Jerry, a young prince from a kingdom that has been turned into a jelly bean by a witch's evil spell. Even in his new form, Jerry is anything but defenseless, as he can bounce on top of enemies or stretch to roll them over or is also able to grab items to throw as projectiles. In addition, he can stick to walls and ceilings to navigate through levels.

Not confused with the Smart Ball trope.

Tropes:

  • Disproportionate Retribution: Why was a curse cast on Jerry? His brother was jealous of his love for Emi, the kingdom's princess.
  • Excuse Plot: Jerry has a spell cast on him to turn him into a blob because his brother was jealous of his relationship. Go on a journey to meet the witch and undo the spell.
  • Forced Transformation: Jerry is a human prince that has been turned into a slime by a witch's curse.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Jerry has the ability to pick up and throw items as weapons.
  • Punny Name: The name "Jerry" is pronounced the same as "jelly" in Japanese.
  • Space Zone: The 4th world takes place on the moon, with the typical reduced gravity. The stage also rotates in full use of the SNES's Mode 7.
  • Spell My Name With An S: The game's Japanese name is Jerry Boy
