  • Empress Zita and her brothers were of the Bourbon-Parma dynasty (and therefore members of a cadet branch of the Spanish royal family but of mostly Italian ancestry, with Portuguese on their mother's side, although given how much inter-dynastic marriage went on between European royalty, it's complicated). Zita is played by Jennifer Ehle (American), Sixtus by Benedict Taylor (British) and Xavier by Matthew Wait (also British).
  • Emperor Karl of Austria is played by Patrick Ryecart (British).
  • Count Czernin was what we would now call Czech, but is played by Christopher Lee (British, with Italian ancestry on his mother's side).
  • The unnamed Prussian spymaster ^note  we only know that he's Prussian due to his being credited as such is played by Joss Ackland (British).
  • Lenin (Russian) is played by Roger Sloman (British).
