• Defictionalization: His 2014 album Raised By Bats is based on the album released by a character in his novel Call of the Jersey Devil.
• Written for My Kids: He wrote "Goodnight Demonslayer" as a lullaby for his son, and when his son got older he also wrote "The Beast of Pirate's Bay" for him.
