Trivia / Total Trauma

  • Author's Saving Throw: The original decision to have Chris sexually harass Lindsay on the set of Island was likely the most controversial decision in the comic. After some consideration a long while after its publication, Wyatt heavily debated deleting the comic altogether, but instead amended it so that Lindsay was instead harassed by a faceless producer.
  • Inspiration for the Work: When asked what inspired Total Trauma, Wyatt had this to say:
"I was really inspired by Bojack Horseman, as well as by comics like Therapist R.J. Hill, and even, on a lighter note, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: 25 Years Later and the Zootopia Abortion Comic. I've always been endeared by comics that take children's media and view them through an adult lens and put the characters in adult situations, even if they are "cringe" or a bit overblown. I find them both genuinely good and hilarious at the same time, and I strived to make something that was both good & funny to laugh at."
  • What Could Have Been:
    • There were going to be a few comics about Leshawna's experience with Total Drama, including a deconstruction of her depiction as a Sassy Black Woman, but Wyatt ultimately decided against it due to concerns about a non-black person inaccurately depicting how it feels to experience anti-black racism.
    • In Volume 2, there was going to be a scene in which Heather walks in on Gwen and Courtney kissing shortly after Gwen confesses to liking Heather romantically, which would send Heather crying to Alejandro for support. This was cut, but the idea was explored in a short lyric comic.
    • Trent and Cody were originally going to become a couple after Cody's breakup with Sierra prior to the creation of Ethan.
