Trivia / Three Thousand Years of Longing

Go To

  • Acclaimed Flop: Despite generally positive reviews, it ended up grossing $18.6 million worldwide against a budget of $60 million (which was partially inflated by COVID-19 interruptions). The sparse and often misleading advertising campaign, which depicted the film more as a gonzo spectacle than a subdued romance, combined with a wide release instead of a gradual limited rollout were cited as possible reasons for the poor box office result.
  • Real-Life Relative: The script was co-written by George Miller and his daughter Augusta Gore.
  • Troubled Production: Filming was originally supposed to take place in Australia, London, and Istanbul in March 2020 but the COVID-19 Pandemic forced production to halt. Quarantine restrictions meant the London and Istanbul filming had to be cancelled, so the entire movie was shot in Australia doubling for those locations.
