Trivia / The Walking Dead S06 E16 "Last Day on Earth"

Go To

  • Blooper: Jeffrey Dean Morgan flubbed the line "Which you may very well be," instead uttering the nonsensical phrase "Which you very may well be," which also apparently got past director Greg Nicotero and everyone else involved in the scene, because it shows up in the finished product. Tellingly, Negan does not make this mistake in either the comic or the uncensored take on the Blu-Ray.
  • Lying Creator: Both Word of God and Jeffrey Dean Morgan himself have said that they will push AMC to the limit regarding Negan's choice of words since they want a faithful translation of the character. In the television airing of the episode, while the scene of his introduction is faithfully translated for the most part, it is stripped of every single F-bomb.
  • Shrug of God: Since the episode's airing, the creators have done little to actually explain their reasoning for the cliffhanger to a hotly anticipated adaptation of the most infamous scene of the comics. On Talking Dead, the explanation was flimsy, but could be summed up to explaining the concept of a Wham Episode and to boost the ratings for Season 7's premiere... which isn't really an answer. Scott Gimple later contested that the episode was meant to be about Rick being humiliated and broken, which doesn't explain why they even bothered to include the Lucille picking if they had no intention of showing it. Finally, in response to the absolutely livid response from critics and fans, many responses to the backlash could be summed up as "Sorry that you're upset. Season 7 will be awesome!", and that it's not their fault the audience went in expecting something they apparently never should have. At SDCC 2016, the creators refused to take questions about the cliffhanger as well. Needless to say, even after the Season 7 trailer, fans have not been receptive to pretty much anything regarding the cliffhanger.
  • Trolling Creator: Every single Word of God have stated before the episode even airs that the audience will melt at the end of the episode. Many assumed that it is because a beloved character will die, which could actually still be the case, but we won't know until October because the episode ended in a Cliffhanger. The show runners then immediately said that they want to hold the suspense.
