Trivia / The Tom and Jerry Comedy Show

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Most of the voices are provided by either Frank Welker (Spike, Tyke, Droopy) and Lou Scheimer (Tom, Jerry, Tuffy), with both alternating the voices of both Slick Wolf and Barney Bear.
  • Adored by the Network: Cartoon Network rarely (if ever) aired the series at all after 2004 but Boomerang has aired the series a lot (especially since 2014) along with the original shorts despite its negative reception. And they've basically been airing the same handful of segments for years.
  • Edited for Syndication: The opening sequence, the wraparound segments and the credits are completely excised when shorts from the show air on Cartoon Network and Boomerang. The reason behind this is these shorts are usually mixed in with the usual MGM shorts instead of their standalone program.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Due to the series' negative reception by fans and legal issues regarding Filmation's involvement, it took until 2021 for an official DVD release to be announced (although two episodes, "Jerry's Country Cousin" and "Snowbrawl", did see releases on the Anniversary Collection and the Snowman's Land DVDs).
  • No Budget: If the overuse of synthesizers, the incredibly wonky animation, the frequent reuse of footage and animation (like the chase sequences) and the fact that most of the characters are voiced by the same two voice actors (Frank Welker for the first six episodes and Lou Scheimer afterward) didn't tell you anything. It is Filmation after all, but even by their standards, it's not one of their better efforts. The "second season" didn't even have any new episodes and just consisted of reruns and older wraparound segments.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: As mentioned above, the animation being outsourced to Filmation has prevented Warner Bros. from releasing the full series on home media.
