  • Streisand Effect: Moral Guardians tried to have "Only the Good Die Young" banned for its subject matter, as well as for being anti-Catholic. Attempts to ban it in the U.S. only made it more popular.
  • What Could Have Been: Billy Joel has explained that "Only the Good Die Young" was originally meant to be a reggae song, then when he first recorded it drummer Liberty DeVitto made his disgust known by throwing his sticks and saying "I fucking hate reggae! The closest you've ever been to Jamaica is when you change trains in Queens!". It had since been changed into a shuffle beat.
