Trivia / The Rebel

Go To

  • Completely Different Title: The film was retitled Call Me Genius in the United States to avoid confusion with a television show called The Rebel.
  • Costume Backlash: Nanette Newman hated having to wear green lipstick and wear mud in her hair, even going home in tears after her first day with it all on.
  • The Danza: Tony Hancock as Anthony Hancock, and Paul Massie as Paul Ashby.
  • Deleted Scene: Amongst the scenes that weren't included in the final version before general release, was one set in a London art museum. Hancock is attempting to copy a painting onto his little notepad - to the disapproval of a museum security guard.
  • Uncredited Role: Hugh Lloyd as the man on the train who Hancock nicknames "George".
  • What Could Have Been: Galton and Simpson suggested a cameo role for Tony Hancock's (until-recently) costar in Hancock's Half Hour, Sid James, possibly as the Customs Official. They recall their lead actor vetoing this idea, though James did attend the film's Plaza premiere in London's Haymarket.
  • Working Title: One Man's Meat.
