• Fake Nationality: The French-Algerian Dali Benssalah as Aruj, who was born on the isle of Lesbos and was of Greek and Ottoman Turkish (and possibly Albanian) descent.
• Hide Your Pregnancy: Adila Bendimerad was pregnant in the final stages of filming and it necessitated some work to hide it.
• Inspiration for the Work: Damien Ounouri got the idea of making the film when reading about Zaphira in a history book.
