- Disowned Adaptation: The film was basically an In Name Only adaption of Ann Jellicoe's 1962 play The Knack, just taking the setting and characters and building a new story from them, and Jellicoe publicly expressed her hatred of the film.
- No Budget: It was made for a mere £100,000, around $350,000 US at 1964 exchange rates, and equivalent to about 2 million pounds/3 million USD in today's money.
- Sleeper Hit: Despite No Budget, no big name stars, and its very British setting, it was a surprise hit in the US, making back almost ten times its budget.
