  • What Could Have Been: A 1930 edition from the same director (Charles Reisner) and producer (Harry Rapf) began production in Spring 1930 and was originally scheduled for release in September of that year. It was eventually retitled The March of Time: the idea was to split the movie in three parts, one featuring past performers from stage and vaudeville, one featuring current stars and one featuring up-and-coming actors. By June 1930, the project was shelved due to MGM considering the movie unmarketable. The already filmed footage found its way into various MGM short subjects and musical films produced during the early 1930's, including several featuring Ted Healy and his Three Stooges. Some footage also appeared in That's Entertainment III, released in 1994.
