• Blooper: A blink-and-you’ll-miss-it example—when Eleanor is describing the four humans, she calls herself a “selfish ass”. According to the previously established rules of the universe, the curse word should have been automatically censored to “ash”, as it has been in every prior instance.
• Executive Meddling: A positive example. Originally, the commercial break after The Reveal came after Michael did some more stuff. Instead they demanded it come earlier, just after the Evil Laugh, making for a more shocking moment.
• Throw It In!: Michael's Evil Laugh was not in the original script. After Eleanor said, "This is the Bad Place!", he was supposed to act exasperated and humiliated, but before one take, Ted Danson said, "Let me try something!" and came up with the laugh on the spot.
