Trivia / The Circle (2011)

• Acclaimed Flop: Through not universally acclaimed, most of the high-profile Swedish newspapers gave it good grades.
• Box Office Bomb: The film made roughly a quarter and a half of the production cost.
• Dawson Casting: Most of the actresses are in their early 20's even though the characters are supposed to be closer to 16; for example, the actress playing Rebecka was 22 when the film was made. This did not go unnoticed by the
• Franchise Killer: The poor box office of the film killed the chance of book 2 and 3 being turned into films. With the main series already finished and the authors moving on to new, separate projects, the series is quite dead. Given the death of the wave of films based on Young Adult novels, there is not really a incentive anymore for an American remake.
• No Export for You:
  • The tie-in comic, which fortunately isn't needed to understand the books (but does flesh out a lot of characters and information).
  • The movie lacks an official English translation as well.
• Word of Gay: Sara Bergmark Elfgren was surprised that people did not get the hints that Alexander is gay and confirmed it outright after the books' release.
