• As Himself: Coach Kawa was an actual respected wrestling coach in Utah at the time the film was made, though Rockville is a fictional high school. Doubles as Cast the Expert.
• Box Office Bomb: Budget, 2.5 million. Box office: 2 million. Not helped by an extremely small distribution.
• Cast the Expert: Pro wrestler Darryl Peterson (aka "Maxx Payne") plays Ted Yacabobich.
• The Danza: Edward Herrmann plays Edward Branish.
• Method Acting: Part of what makes the film impressive to watch is that the actors clearly really are throwing each other around on the mat.
• No Communities Were Harmed: Nowhere in the movie is it said the location is in Utah, but the Rocky Mountains are clearly visible and filming took place in Murray. Actual Utah towns like Orem are mentioned, and at least one school—Viewmont High, with its viking mascot—still exists today.
