- What Could Have Been: The game was originally supposed to be named 'Zombie Apocalypse', but Bob the PR bot, the dev, changed it when he found out that another game was using the name already.
- The zombies were originally victims of a fungal infection, and were inspired by the zombie ants video that went viral at the time. This was changed after The Last of Us was announced.
- Initially the the zombies were all shamblers, but they were eventually switched to being fast zombies due to slow zombies being 'boring'. However, the cripple mechanic made it's way to the final game as a nod to the slow zombie genre.
